Part of the mission of the Inter Faith Network for the UK is working with faith communities, inter faith organisations, educators and others to increase understanding and cooperation between people of different faiths and to widen public awareness of the distinctive religious traditions in the UK.
In 2016-17 a special strand of its work is ‘Learning Together’. On the agenda is discussion about ‘religious literacy’. How do we, as people of different faiths and beliefs in the UK, gain understanding of each other’s most deeply held beliefs and understand the stories and practices that shape our lives?
In this website section we will be putting up a series of short briefings and reflections about different aspects of learning from and about different faiths in such contexts as RE in schools, religious literacy programmes, and inter faith education in a faith community context. Links to each item are above the title of this page.
We begin with religious education in schools. Watch this space for new content across the coming months.
