Faith and Citizenship
In autumn 2005 the Inter Faith Network launched a project on Faith and
Citizenship. In December 2005, the Network’s Faith Communities
Consultative Forum held a special topic meeting to discuss this theme
and a seminar on ‘Faith, Identity and Belonging: Educating for Shared
Citizenship’ was held in February 2006 in association with the
Citizenship Foundation. These events are described on pages 22-27 of
the Network’s 2005-06 Annual
Review and in the
full report of the
February seminar.
A consultation document,
Faith,
Citizenship and Shared Life In Britain Today,
was subsequently developed by the Network’s Executive Committee,
drawing together themes which had emerged within the project and also
building on relevant earlier Network documents. This was circulated to
Network member bodies in November 2006 and placed on this website.
That text has now been revised in the light of the comments which were
received on it and the final version of the paper has now replaced the
earlier text on this website. It is hoped that it will help to
stimulate reflection and conversation about the themes which it
addresses.
Any comments on the document sent to the Network office would be
welcome.
